How Owen Cooper, Tramell Tillman and More Celebs Made History at Emmys 2025
Owen Cooper's adolescence is forever changed after the 2025 Emmys.
In fact, the Adolescence star addressed his historic night after winning Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for the Netflix series on Sept. 14. (Check out a full list of 2025 Emmy winners and photos of celebs on the red carpet at the awards.)
"It means so much to me," the 15-year-old, now the youngest male actor to win an Emmy, told reporters backstage at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater, "my family, people back home."
At the time, the British actor's friends in his native England were likely unaware that he even received the award.
"They're probably not even awake. It's about 4 in the morning at home," Owen said. "But yeah, they'll be over the moon, I can't wait to tell them."
And speaking of over the moon, Owen celebrated another memorable moment just before the Emmys: Meeting Jake Gyllenhaal, who was nominated for his lead role in the limited series Presumed Innocent.
"Honour and a privilege to meet an icon of the game like Jake," the teen—who had said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! three days earlier that he hoped to meet and chat with the fellow actor at the Emmys— wrote on Instagram hours before the ceremony, "and will never forget it @jakegyllenhaal."
Jake responded, "The honor was mine man. Good luck tonight!!!!"

The British actor—who plays a student accused of murdering a classmate in the miniseries Adolescence—beat costar Ashley Walters as well as fellow nominees Javier Bardem from Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Bill Camp and Peter Sarsgaard from Presumed Innocent, as well as Rob Delaney from Dying for Sex for the Emmy honor.
Owen missed out on securing the title of the youngest-ever Emmy winner overall by a year to Roxana Zal, who at age 14, won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series at the 1984 awards for her role in Something About Amelia.
At the 2025 ceremony, Adolescence won eight Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Stephen Graham, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Erin Doherty and Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
