While the Boston Red Sox’s series win streak was ended today by the Athletics, they can take some consolation that they’ll be going on a six-game road trip to try starting up another streak, as they are one of the most dominant teams when they’re the away team.
Another consolation prize they can get hyped for is the return of Adley Rutschman, who may be back by the middle game of their next series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Rutschman to return after two games in AAA

Rutschman came to the Red Sox injured, already on the IL with a left wrist injury. He had gotten through most of the rest time already, and just needed a brief rehab stint before he could return.
Rutschman began his rehab yesterday, where he helped the AAA Worcester Red Sox get a 19-0 win over the Lehigh Iron Pigs. He went one for two with a double, two walks, and two RBI last game.
While he went 0-3 today, Boston seems to think that he’s ready, as it was reported he’s flying with the team to Toronto, and could start as early as Tuesday.
Rutschman is the boost Boston needs

Rutschman was acquired with the purpose of upgrading Boston’s catcher platoon, which was one of the worst in the league overall.
Rustchman brings three All-Star selections, a Silver Slugger, and a slashline of .251/.331/.433/.764 with 19 doubles, eight home runs, and 47 RBI in 67 games this season. He also has a cannon of an arm behind the plate, and frames pitches very well.
With a pull tendency as a switch hitter, Rutschman will take advantage of all corners of Fenway Park, and hopefully turn into one of Boston's best hitters.
Rutschman needs to prove himself

If Rutschman can become an invaluable bat in the seven weeks left of the season, Boston could reward him.
They should anyway, to make the package they sent for him worth it. He only has a year and a half of control left, and with the impending 2027 lockout, that final year might be wiped out.
Hopefully, Rutschman performs for Boston, and helps the Red Sox make a World Series run. If he does, a long-term extension should be offered to him as soon as possible.
