A.J. Brown is probably in his last month as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Once June 1 passes, Brown seems quite likely to be traded to the New England Patriots.

At this point, NFL reporters are speaking about it essentially as a matter of fact. That includes ESPN's Adam Schefter, who joined The Pat McAfee Show on Monday and shared the latest.

"I think A.J. Brown knows where his future is headed at this moment," Schefter told McAfee.

Then, he revealed what the trade will cost.

"I still think he's getting traded to New England for a 2028 first round draft pick," Schefter said.

And the timeline matches up with what everyone thinks.

"Once we get to June, these two sides will get together to complete this trade," Schefter said.

The timeline aspect of this is what has made it feel so drawn out. The reality is that it's hugely financially beneficial for the Eagles to wait until after June 1 to trade Brown. It means they're saddled with a lot less dead money against their salary cap.

For the Patriots, who simply want Brown to be their WR1 for Drake Maye when the 2026 season arrives, there's been no rush.

They likely have a better idea inside their building of how likely this deal is to happen, but given that they didn't even draft a wide receiver, it seems like the Pats feel pretty good about where things stand.

Weird things happen in trade talks, especially when there's a built-in delay like this. But for now, it seems only a matter of procedure that is making an Eagles-Patriots trade with Brown wait its turn.
