Olivia Wilde laughed off trolls comparing her viral red carpet look to the character Gollum from “Lord of the Rings.”
The actress addressed the criticism over her appearance during her recent red carpet interview with SFGate in an Instagram Story Saturday, clearly not letting it bother her.
Wilde, 42, blamed her different appearance on the camera’s fisheye lens — which produces distortion due to its ultra-wide-angle — but also acknowledged it wasn’t her most flattering look.
The mother of two wrote, “Leave it to your little brother to give you the maximum amount of s–t,” with a video of her sibling asking her if she wanted to address rumors she’s a “resurrected corpse.”
The Instagram Story also featured a picture of her much-talked-about red carpet look side by side with a picture of Gollum up top.
“Listen that is a fisheye lens,” the “Don’t Worry Darling” director said. “And I admit, is that my best angle? Was that my best-ever look? No.”

“It’s a startling image,” she acknowledged. “It’s a fisheye lens. I don’t know why I was so close to the camera, I didn’t need to have to be.”
She added with a laugh, “That’s not the truth.”
Wilde then joked, “Do you have any more questions? I’m not dead.”
The actress was at the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 24 to promote her new film, “The Invite.”
While she was subjected to cruel comments from SFGate’s viral Instagram post of their interview with her, she also had fans that came to her defense.
“It’s unflattering lighting and a bad camera lens. She otherwise looks beautiful and is aging gracefully,” one fan tweeted.
“I think it may have been the camera settings, or a filter of whoever took that video. I saw a news clip where she didn’t look as bad,” another fan agreed.
