Notre Dame entered the 2025 season as the favorite to once again win the national title, but this time it was seeking a rare three-peat.
There hasn't been a three-peat in men's college lacrosse since Princeton did it in the late 1990s. The Fighting Irish began the year on track to make history.
The 2025 season hasn't gone as planned, though, as the Fighting Irish are 8-3 and fell from the top-seeded team to No. 6 in the national poll. Still, Notre Dame is the No. 1 seed in the ACC men's lacrosse tournament and can win back-to-back conference titles this weekend.
Notre Dame will face No. 4 Syracuse in the semifinal round on Friday, May 2, and No. 2 North Carolina will play No. 3 Duke in the other semifinal matchup. The winners will battle for the ACC championship on Sunday, May 4.
