ACC commissioner explains why Bill Belichick is worth the Jordon Hudson drama for UNC

The drama around the North Carolina Tar Heels football program is suddenly at an all-time high. The Tar Heels hired Bill Belichick in December, bringing a six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach to a program in need of a facelift.

That was a good move, or so they thought. But, the drama with Belichick and his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson has been one that everyone is focused on recently.

A report surfaced recently that Hudson had been banned from North Carolina facilities, although that was quickly debunked. Still, the drama is swirling in Chapel Hill.

On Wednesday, ACC commissioner Jim Phillips spoke about the Belichick hiring, and he doesn't seem bothered at all. Rather, it is helping the ACC, he told Brett McMurphy of Action Network.

"(ESPN) ran to us, before we could even run to them (about televising more UNC games). It's a great thing for ACC, a great thing for North Carolina & we are all following the massive coverage that Coach Belichick draws."

So, Phillips says it's a "great thing" for the ACC and North Carolina, and it figures that ESPN and others will be trying to gobble up any such North Carolina coverage.

On the other hand, Dominque Foxworth mentioned on his show that there is a "real chance" Belichick doesn't coach a single game at North Carolina, especially if the program thinks the risk outweighs the potential reward.

Belichick's buyout goes from $10 million to just $1 million on June 1, so if things continue at this rate, North Carolina might decide to cut ties and call it a loss, although Phillips' comments sure make it seem like this is a popular hire for both the ACC and North Carolina.
