Aaron Rodgers' future with Steelers revealed by NFL insider as retirement looms

1 hour ago 2

Aaron Rodgers joined the Pittsburgh Steelers on what many expected to be a one-year attempt at contention.

It looks like that assumption was correct.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Saturday that we've "seen the last" of Rodgers in Pittsburgh.

The insider wouldn't go so far as to say Rodgers is retiring for sure. But if Pittsburgh isn't on the table, the options slim down considerably.

Rodgers just completed a solid season at age 42. There's reason to believe he could be at least a competent QB in the 2026 season, as well.

But does Rodgers want to play at 43? And is there a team out there for whom a one-year rental makes sense?

The Jets could use Rodgers, but that's not a reunion that would be in anyone's mind.

If the Cardinals trade Kyler Murray, maybe they go after a stopgap option? The Chiefs might need a Week 1 starter, and the Colts the same, with injuries to Patrick Mahomes and Daniel Jones, but those wouldn't be full-season jobs.

Maybe the Minnesota Vikings would bring him in to take over for J.J. McCarthy, but just last spring they chose not to do that.

It's way too soon to know what Rodgers will do for sure. He took his time last season before ending up in Pittsburgh.

Now, the football world waits to see what the future Hall of Famer intends to do now.
