The New York Yankees welcomed back Aaron Judge on Tuesday, an exciting time for the organization and everyone involved.
Judge, undoubtedly one of the best players in Major League Baseball, is hopeful to come back and swing the bat at the level that everybody knows he can. He hadn't appeared in a game since May 31, so this long absence was obviously far from ideal. As Judge returns, there are many things that he needs to figure out, but one of them is simply staying on the field.
It sounds like the Yankees are going to do everything in their power to ensure that he does, though it didn't really make Judge too happy that Aaron Boone decided to take him out halfway through the game.
“I feel great… played half a game so I don’t know what to say about that,” Judge said to reporters. “I respect Booney. So whatever he says I’m gonna do, but not happy about it. But that’s where my guy Ramos picked me up and hit a nice little three-run homer there to kind of put the game out… but yeah not too happy about it.”
Judge keeps saying all the right things, and that isn't going to change any time soon. This guy is a professional from top to bottom, so while there was obviously some frustration with Boone's decision, I like that he also picked up Elliot Ramos. Ultimately, the Yankees won the game, and Ramos was a big part of why in a 5-3 win.
I'm curious how much longer the Yankees will keep the training wheels on Judge before he's let loose, but the bigger focus is that he returned and seems healthy.
