The New York Jets had a busy trade deadline, sending Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys in two stunning blockbuster trades.
A week before the deadline, they traded Michael Carter II to the Philadelphia Eagles, leaving running back Breece Hall as the most obvious trade candidate in New York.
But Hall wasn't traded, much to the confusion of Jets fans. However, as Underdog NFL shares, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn revealed the reason why Hall wasn't traded, and he did so with some very strong language.
Aaron Glenn reveals why Breece Hall wasn't traded by Jets
"Breece was not a guy I wanted to get rid of," Glenn said. "He's a damn good player. Any of those (reports) that came out, I don't know what you're talking about."
HC Glenn on Breece Hall after trade deadline:
"Breece was not a guy I wanted to get rid of. He's a damn good player. Any of those (reports) that came out, I don't know what you're talking about.
The Jets running back was mentioned in trade rumors for weeks and was widely viewed as the most likely player to be traded by the Jets on deadline day.
New York was reportedly asking for a third-round pick, but as the deadline passed, Hall stayed in New York. Despite moving on from Gardner and Williams, two players no one expected to be traded, keeping Hall was a strange decision.
But, as Glenn revealed, he never wanted the Jets to trade Hall. While the main reason is that Hall is a good player, keeping the star running back in New York would help a new quarterback coming to the team.
Based on the two blockbuster trades, the Jets are looking to focus on building a strong offense for a rookie quarterback in either the 2026 or 2027 NFL drafts, and Hall could be a key part of said offense.
Glenn's reaction to the Hall trade rumors is a very strong one. Not only are his comments indicative of the Jets' head coach having zero intention to trade him, but he's also questioning why Hall was even in trade rumors in the first place.
In the final year of his rookie deal, trading Hall wouldn't have been a bad move. But the Jets are holding onto Hall for the rest of the 2025 season, and could try to re-sign him in the offseason.
