The New York Yankees made a decision that may not last long, and fans aren't happy with it.
While sending top prospect Carlos Lagrange to the minors might seem like a move that made sense to the organization, Aaron Boone said the call wasn’t as easy as expected. In fact, it sounds like the young pitcher forced the Yankees to consider keeping him with the big-league team.d.
“He made it a difficult decision,” Boone said. “Coming into this, I wouldn’t have even thought there was a decision. He’s definitely got everyone’s attention. I love where he’s at. I would not be surprised if he is impacting us early, middle, later part of the season. I can just tell you, we’re all very excited about his continued development and what we think he could mean to our team at some point.”
Lagrange is still rather young, so sending him down wasn't the worst idea, but at 6-foot-7 and having a fastball over 100 MPH, it's also fair to question what the Yankees are waiting for at this point.
However, for the Yankees, the priority is making sure Lagrange continues to develop in a way that sets him up for long-term success. Whether that's another few weeks or months in the minors only remains to be seen.
