Former cricketer Aakash Chopra recently predicted the player who could be the most expensive buy at the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction. He suggested that Australia's pace-bowling all-rounder Cameron Green could fetch the biggest contract at the event.
Notably, Green was in great demand at the IPL 2023 auction. His name sparked a bidding war, with teams like Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) bidding for him.
He was ultimately signed by MI for a whopping ₹17.5 crore. The deal made him the second-most expensive player in the league's history at the time. Chopra opined that Green could once again attract a lot of bidders and end up being the costliest buy at the 2026 auction.
The cricketer-turned-commentator wrote on X:

Meanwhile, the IPL 2026 retention deadline is Saturday, November 15. The mini-auction is expected to be held in December. With his ability to deliver impactful performances with both bat and ball, Green is likely to be a sought-after buy at the auction.
A look at Cameron Green's IPL career
Cameron Green made his IPL debut in 2023. He played some impactful knocks for MI, finishing as the team's third-highest run-scorer in the edition. The swashbuckling batter amassed 452 runs across 16 innings at a strike rate of 160.28.
He hit one century and two fifties. The right-arm pacer also claimed six wickets with the ball from 16 innings at an economy rate of 9.50. Green was traded to RCB in an all-cash deal following the season.
The 26-year-old scored 255 runs in 12 innings with a strike rate of 143.25 and claimed 10 wickets from 13 innings at an economy rate of 8.61. He missed the subsequent mega auction in 2025 due to injury.
The talented player has featured in 21 T20Is for Australia. He has chalked up 521 runs from 20 innings and picked up 12 wickets in as many innings.
