Puneri Paltan head coach Ajay Thakur opened up on star all-rounder Mohit Goyat's absence from the playing seven. Goyat had been a top performer for Pune in recent Pro Kabaddi League tournaments, but he was mysteriously absent from the playing seven in PKL 2025 for a majority of the season.

Many fans expected Mohit Goyat to be back in the mix for the playoffs because of the experience and skills he has, but Puneri Paltan never named him in the team. Despite his absence, Pune made it to the final, where they lost to Dabang Delhi KC by 28-31.

At the post-match press conference, Ajay Thakur was asked about Mohit's absence from the team. Replying to the journalist, the Pune head coach said:

"Mohit was not fit to play. He has been dealing with an injury. He is only 22 years old. There was a risk that for just one season or just one match, he could have never been able to play kabaddi again. Even if the injury is minor, a player should take proper rest. A player's life matters more than the kabaddi season. He is doing his rehab."

Mohit Goyat played only six matches in PKL 2025. where he earned 13 points. He scored 11 raid points and two tackle points for Puneri Paltan.

"We will change the color of this medal 101%"- Puneri Paltan coach Ajay Thakur

At the same press conference, Pune coach Ajay Thakur assured his fans that his team will change the medal's color from silver to gold in PKL 13. Pune fell short by four points in the final against Delhi on October 31.

"I'm happy that this was my first season as a coach and I have this medal in my hand. I will work harder, we will work harder and we will change the color of this medal 101%," Ajay signed off.

Dabang Delhi KC became the third franchise in PKL history to win the trophy more than once. They have joined Jaipur Pink Panthers and Patna Pirates in the elite club of teams with more than one trophy.
