Despite a struggling season in Las Vegas, which sees the Aces 13-13 through their first 26 games, A'ja Wilson continues to be a leader on and off the court.
The WNBA has named Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson as the first Global Ambassador for the Jr. WNBA. The two-time champion and three-time MVP will lead efforts to inspire and empower girls through basketball, leadership, and community involvement.
Wilson will represent the Jr. WNBA at major NBA and WNBA events, participating in on-court instruction and off-court programs focused on confidence, wellness, and personal development. She’ll also serve as Strategic Advisor to the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Court of Leaders, which mentors top high school players.
The Jr. WNBA targets girls ages 5–17 with programs like Belonging in Basketball and the Vision Box, designed to keep girls engaged in sports. Wilson, who once doubted her own path in basketball, now hopes to help the next generation see what’s possible.
“If I can be seen in those spaces and make it look real for them, then I’ve done my job,” Wilson said.

The Liberty’s Candice Haynes praised Wilson’s relatability and impact: “She already lives the mission. She’s a champion on and off the court.”
During All-Star Weekend, Wilson and other WNBA players led clinics and vision board workshops for over 100 girls, sparking what organizers hope will be lasting inspiration.
“I’d love to see one of them take my place someday,” Wilson said.
With Wilson leading the way, the Jr. WNBA continues to build more than athletes, it’s building future leaders.
