76ers sign former 1st-round pick from Bucks to new contract

The Philadelphia 76ers are taking a chance on a talented, still young player to try and boost their team's ceiling.

Late Tuesday, The Athletic's Tony Jones reported that the 76ers are signing Marjon Beauchamp to a two-way deal.

Beauchamp was originally a first-round pick of the Milwaukee Bucks who didn't quite stick.

He's a talented wing player with scoring ability who had started to play decently in Milwaukee before Doc Rivers arrived. When the new coach came to town, Beauchamp was essentially removed from the rotation and never given much of a chance to show what he could do.

This season, Beauchamp has been playing in the G League for Delaware.

Potentially more notably, he's also suited up for Team USA in World Cup Qualifiers and looked like the best player on the floor in that action.

It's a limited sample, because Beauchamp was away from the G League while playing for Team USA, but he's been great for Delaware this season.

Beauchamp was going to lead next week's annual "Two-Way and 10 Day guys to watch" article.

The 76ers have a bevy of talented guard and wing players, but it's an area where a team can never have enough depth as far as shooting and playmaking goes.

Beauchamp is still just 25 years old, so there's plenty of potential for him still to tap into.

The 76ers didn't have to risk much for this move, and there's legitimate upside for them if it works out.
