The Philadelphia 76ers still have a road for success which leads to the NBA Playoffs. The Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe-led squad have been holding their own which resulted into getting in the seventh-seed in the Eastern Conference. A crucial part of their team is coming back to add leadership and numbers on the box score. It is none other than Paul George but he had a remorseful spiel after his 25-game anti-drug policy.

George apologizes to NBA, 76ers fans for breaking league policy

The 76ers have not played George since their January 29 clash against the Sacramento Kings. This is because the star and veteran wing took improper medication. Adam Silver and the rest of the NBA had to investigate this matter of breaking the anti-drug policy too. He has been given a 25-game suspension which started when the 76ers faced the New Orleans Pelicans. His return from suspension is slated on March 25 against the Chicago Bulls.

Prior to taking the court for that game, George bared his feelings and the reflections he's had during the suspension, via Tony Jones of The Athletic.

"I think first and foremost, I just want to give my apology to everybody that was affected through this suspension. Obviously, to own up to that as a leader of this group, to know that I let people down hurts more than anything. Shoutout to my teammates for having my back and supporting me through this time. Things are on the positive side and I’m looking forward to tomorrow and being available and giving everything I got," the 76ers star said.

Since his absence, the 76ers had to fill the hole of his production with a plethora of players. Justin Edwards, Dominick Barlow, Jabari Walker, and Trendon Watford have been rotating on the floor so that their squad has a presence on the wings. With George's return looming, the 76ers can now get their 16-point scorer back alongside his averages of 1.5 blocks, 3.7 assists, and 5.1 rebounds.

"Obviously, it was devastation there. Especially, where we were at, I believe we were at fifth seed. I think we had just won a game against Sacramento, or something like that. We’ve been playing good basketball. So, there was some devastation, just of momentum that was being built. I think I was starting to trend in a better place. My body was getting better and better over that time, but again, the front office gave me full support," he added.

George will join Edgecombe as the two healthy stars for the 76ers. They still await Maxey and Joel Embiid's injury return in order to make a run at the NBA Playoffs.
