Before the Philadelphia 76ers make it back to the practice floor, following the NBA All-Star break, it has been revealed that the team is making multiple roster moves.

On Monday morning, it was reported that the Sixers are helping Cam Payne execute a buyout from his overseas team so he can sign a rest-of-year deal with the 76ers for the final stretch.

Beyond Payne, the Sixers are also upgrading the 23-year-old Jabari Walker. After spending the season on a two-way contract, the Sixers are converting Walker’s deal to a standard two-year contract.

Full Details of the Deal

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Walker’s deal is for two seasons and is worth $3.35 million. Just $1 million is guaranteed, according to the report. The timing of the move allows Walker to have eligibility with the primary roster for the rest of the year. He’s become an important rotational player for the Sixers this season.

Walker’s career started in 2022, when he was a second-round pick out of Colorado. He was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers 57th overall. He spent three seasons with the Blazers, appearing in 188 games. He averaged 6.2 points and 4.5 rebounds, while shooting 31 percent from three.

Since signing with the Sixers, Walker has appeared in 45 games. He even started in six matchups. In total, Walker is averaging 3.7 points while knocking down 40 percent of his shots from the field. This season, Walker is posting averages of 3.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and nearly one assist.

The Sixers will return from the break on Thursday, February 19. With Walker signing a standard deal, he’ll be eligible to play. The Sixers will face the Atlanta Hawks next, as they search for their 31st win.
