The Philadelphia 76ers have quietly made some really impressive moves over the past few years, and there's a reason why many have been impressed with what the organization has done.
Deciding to go in a different direction, front-office-wise, this past year, Philadelphia made the right moves and landed Jaylen Brown in a blockbuster deal involving Paul George.
That trade made too much sense for the 76ers, though some are already questioning it and trying to determine whether he could be moved if things don't go as planned.
“Brown is not a free agent until 2029, but he will be extension eligible next year, and if the Sixers balk on paying him, they could be putting Brown back on the market. The details are different, but the exec compared it to Jimmy Butler going to the Sixers (he was on an expiring deal) in 2019 and then being signed-and-traded the following offseason because he did not like the fit there,” Sean Deveney wrote.
I'd be pretty shocked if Brown gets traded shortly after this trade, but we've seen some crazy things in the NBA, so I'm never going to say anything is impossible.
However, it really would have to blow up in the 76ers' faces for this not to work out. We're talking about an elite talent alongside some other really good basketball players, so I don't expect this to end poorly. If anything, I believe that the 76ers made an incredible move, and this year is going to be a lot of fun.
