76ers' former star may be dealt to Clippers in blockbuster trade for Kawhi Leonard

Philadelphia 76ers fans were more than happy to see forward Tobias Harris depart this offseason after not living up to the expectations of his five-year, $180 million contract.

However, Harris' new contract with the Detroit Pistons could play a pivotal role in the organization landing a superstar talent. He signed a two-year, $52 million deal with Detroit that is theorized to be used in a blockbuster trade for Los Angeles Clippers' Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard's NBA future is up in the air just as much as his place with the Clippers. He has dealt heavily with injuries in recent seasons, leading some to even call for an early retirement. Assuming Leonard is able to push through the unfortunate obstacles, Bleacher Report believes he could be the perfect piece to accelerate the Pistons rebuild.

B/R proposed the following trade between LA and Detroit:

Pistons receive: Kawhi Leonard

Clippers receive: Tobias Harris, Isaiah Stewart, Ron Holland, and a 2030 first-round pick swap

This would not be a complete change of scenery for the former Sixers forward, as he spent a season with the Clippers before landing with Philadelphia at the trade deadline. He also made it clear shortly after leaving the Clippers that there was no ill will toward the team.

"No disappointment, they made a move," Harris said in 2020, according to USA Today. "Obviously, the move paid for them with the talent that they got in free agency. We made a move here and it worked out for both sides so there’s no ill will."

Harris is, of course, not the enticing piece of the Pistons' trade offer, as that title belongs to the No. 5 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Holland. He is an explosive athlete with strong two-way upside who could fit strongly in a Clippers rebuild at 19 years old.
