76ers draft pick Johni Broome went from tiny D-I school to best player in country at Auburn

Johni Broome started his college basketball career at Morehead State.

He ended it as The Sporting News National Player of the Year.

He was overshadowed in most national circles by Duke's Cooper Flagg, but not in this website's voting.

Broome was dominant for Auburn. He averaged 18.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

He's a 6-foot-10, 235-pound lefty.

The 76ers' biggest question is always Joel Embiid's health.

Broome, if he's ready to play in the NBA right away, can contribute in games that Embiid needs to sit out for load management.

He's been in college basketball a long time, but allowed him to grow into the best player in the best league (SEC) in the country.

And now, he's a Philadelphia 76er, just on time.
