NASCAR drivers are best known for their intensity, quick decision-making, and competitiveness at very high speed on racetracks. But take them away from the racetrack, and many of the sport’s superstars reveal a hilarious and relatable side, offering fans many memorable moments.

From accidental dog-food tastings to playful social media banter, here are five famous moments when NASCAR Cup Series drivers proved they’re just as entertaining off the track as they are on it.

#1 Dale Earnhardt Jr. accidentally eats dog ice cream

Few stories about NASCAR legend Dale Jr. have made fans laugh as much as his wife Amy’s hilarious confession. On the recent episode of Dale Jr. Download, Amy revealed that her husband once unknowingly took a bite of their dog’s ice cream treat.

“The kid’s just gone to bed, and he comes to the couch with a little tiny cup of ice cream. And he’s eating a couple of bites. I look at him, and I’m like, “That’s for dogs.” Amy said.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Jr. was stunned and slightly horrified—but fans loved how he leaned into the joke rather than trying to play it off. The moment instantly went viral on social media, proving that even NASCAR legends have awkward everyday moments.

#2 Brad Keselowski’s hilarious drunk interview

After winning his maiden NASCAR Cup Series Championship, Brad Keselowski took the celebration to a whole new level. Speaking to ESPN from the championship party, Keselowski held a glass of beer that was roughly the size of a small toddler.

He was visibly in a chill mode, providing hilariously blunt and unfiltered answers. His genuine joy and slightly slurred enthusiasm made him an instant fan favorite for the night.

#3 Ryan Blaney and Bubba Wallace’s Best-Friend Banter.

Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney and 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace have produced some of the funniest off-track moments in recent times. Their playful roasting of each other during interviews, podcasts, and social media gives fans a refreshing look at drivers’ funny side away from the racing.

Whether it’s Blaney teasing Wallace about his fashion choices or Wallace firing back with jokes about Blaney’s music taste, their friendly banter feels natural, relatable, and funny to fans.

#4 Kyle Busch becoming a meme factory after a press conference

While this happened in a media interaction and showed two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch’s dry, sarcastic wit. Known for his rowdy personality, he used humor as a weapon to handle a frustrating situation.

Ahead of the Phoenix race in 2017, after a fighting incident with Joey Logano, Busch repeatedly used the phrase “Everything's great!” to deflect media questions about his competitor Logano, turning it into a running joke. No matter the topic, he replied with the same phrase.

#5 Jeff Gordon’s Test Drive Pepsi Max Prank

One of the most famous and hilarious instances of a driver going undercover was Jeff Gordon's viral collaboration with Pepsi. Gordon disguised himself, including a fake beard and glasses, and visited a car dealership as Mike, a nervous car buyer.

The four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion took an unsuspecting salesman on a test drive in a Chevrolet Camaro. After driving slowly for a few seconds, he accelerated to full speed and performed high-speed drifts and donuts, causing the salesman to scream in fear. The final reveal, followed by Gordon's calm question, "So, how do you like the car?" remains a classic example of comedy and a prank that left fans stunned.
