Where Winds Meet is currently one of the most popular RPGs and has garnered the attention of gacha and MMO players alike. It features wuxia-themed action and offers both solo and online multiplayer content, which appeals to a broader audience. While there is no particular game on the market that is quite similar to WWM, the game incorporates the best of many popular titles.

This article provides five reasons why gacha and MMO fans may enjoy playing Where Winds Meet.

Five reasons why Where Winds Meet may appeal to gacha and MMO fans

1) Gacha mechanics focused on cosmetics

Where Winds Meet features a gacha system that is quite similar to the recently released Duet Night Abyss. Unlike traditional gacha games, where you summon characters or items that directly affect your power, the gacha system is limited to cosmetics. You can choose to spend money on unique skins to customize your character. However, that is completely optional.

You should note that there is also a pity system in WWM, like most modern gacha games. This ensures that dedicated free-to-play players can eventually earn rare cosmetics.

2) MMO features

WWM features multiplayer hubs where you can conduct guild raids, partake in social events, marry other players, and engage in PvP battles. While the MMO aspect of the game is limited, it is quite engaging.

Apart from that, the game also includes a social system comprised of various Sects. Each of these Sects has a different philosophy, and you can interact with like-minded individuals by joining them.

3) Massive open world with co-op

The title features a massive open world, filled with cities, temples, and much more. You can explore the unique map inspired by 10th-century China either in single-player mode or in a co-op multiplayer mode where you can form a party of up to four players. This experience is quite similar to Genshin Impact.

However, you should note that defeating bosses and completing challenges in co-op mode does provide more rewards.

4) Customizable combat with unique skills

The wuxia-themed combat is one of the best elements of Where Winds Meet. It involves using martial arts and powerful skills, along with a parrying and dodging system reminiscent of Ghost of Tsushima. The title also offers the choice between a variety of weapons, such as swords, spears, fans, and umbrellas, each with a unique fighting style.

By selecting a unique group or skills and the weapon of your choosing, you can build your character to stand out from others in combat. You should note that some skills and abilities are unique to some Sects and can only be unlocked by joining them.

5. F2P-friendly

Unlike most gacha games and live-service MMOs, WWM avoids pay-to-win mechanics and is quite F2P-friendly. You can obtain all the gear necessary for progression entirely through gameplay, crafting, and exploration. This means that players who don’t spend real money won’t be at any disadvantage compared to those who are willing to pay.

Additionally, unlike many live-service MMOs, all game modes in Where Winds Meet are also accessible to all without any purchases.
