The San Francisco 49ers have lots of top-end talent on their offense.
From Brock Purdy to George Kittle to Christian McCaffrey, this is a group that is paid a lot of money to perform in the biggest moments.
It wouldn't hurt to add another Pro Bowl player to the mix, though.
That's what ESPN's Matt Bowen has suggested in a new article on Monday. He thinks the 49ers should go after offensive guard Kevin Zeitler, who is still a free agent.
The 36-year old was in the Pro Bowl just a few seasons ago, and he could be a big help on the interior of the San Francisco offensive line.
"The veteran has a physical inside presence, using his power to displace defensive tackles," Bowen writes. "And he has the movement ability to pull on the gap schemes, which fits into Kyle Shanahan's system. Zeitler also uses his strong base in protection, ranking 37th out of 65 qualifying guards in pass block win rate last season (92.4%). He would be an upgrade to the interior of San Francisco's O-line, which saw left guard Spencer Burford leave for the Raiders in free agency."
Zeitler is a well-traveled player. He was a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Wisconsin.
Since then, he has played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans.
Zeitler made the Pro Bowl in 2023 with the Ravens.
He has played at least 15 games in each of the past 11 seasons, so he's consistently available, a great trait.
The 49ers have plenty of injury troubles most seasons, so adding a reliable piece like Zeitler could work out nicely.
