On Saturday, the NFC playoff seeding will become clearer, as the winner of the San Francisco 49ers-Seattle Seahawks game will determine the No. 1 seed.
With the top seed comes home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, and for the 49ers, the path to them hosting the Super Bowl at Levi Stadium becomes much more likely.
Although San Francisco has found success despite many injuries, it is still essential to have all hands on deck and their best players available, if possible, and one of those players that would be nice to have out there for the Niners is left tackle, Trent Williams, and general manager, John Lynch provided a much needed update of the tackle's status for Saturday.
"The motivation is certainly there. We will be smart, and it is a tall task to turn around from the hamstring injury that he had, but he's making every effort to play. We'll see if he gets there," Lynch said on the San Francisco AM radio station "KNBR."
Purdy and the 49ers may have still gone on to defeat the Chicago Bears in a 'Sunday Night Football' thriller, 42-38, behind a massive performance from Purdy with five total touchdowns, the team still needs Williams out there, and if he can't go, then it could cost the Niners against the Seahawks.
Williams injured his right hamstring against the Bears on the first play from scrimmage after the offensive tackle attempted to get into the mix to tackle on T.J. Edwards before the Bears' safety scored off a Purdy interception for a pick six.
If the 49ers lose, they face the danger of falling all the way to the sixth seed, which would either have them going on the road in the wild-card round for a rematch with the Bears or against the Philadelphia Eagles.
