Joey Bosa is still lingering in free agency, and while there are 32 NFL teams that could sign him, everyone's eyes are on the San Francisco 49ers.
And yes, a big part of that reason is that the younger Bosa brother, Nick, is already part of the 49ers' pass rush.
But there's more -- San Francisco simply needs more potency off the edge. Joey could still provide that.
He's not getting any younger, but Joey led the NFL in forced fumbles in 2025 with five of them for the Buffalo Bills. He can still make plays, particularly with his snaps managed intelligently.
Sports Illustrated national NFL writer Conor Orr is on board with this thinking, too, in a very specific way. He predicted in a new article Tuesday that the Bosa brothers will play at least five games together in 2026.
That does acknowledge, too, that these are an injury-prone pair of brothers. But it points to the 49ers eventually completing a deal with Joey, like many of their fans are hoping happens (along with the Bosa brothers' mom).
"While Nick recently said his almost-31-year-old older brother is working on his golf game, San Francisco’s still-needy pass rush and the lingering desire to play alongside Nick will draw Joey out of his long, veteran summer," Orr writes. "The 49ers make sense schematically and have the effective cap space to accommodate a slightly more sizable veteran salary."

At this point in his career, Joey doesn't have to rush his free agency. He can enjoy his offseason and start getting tuned up by training camp and the preseason.
He can also analyze fits and see what makes the most sense. San Francisco certainly seems to work on paper.
So don't be surprised if these bros end up together eventually. It's just taking a little while.
