49ers get exciting trade rumor on Maxx Crosby from ESPN insider

The San Francisco 49ers have a lot of work to do this offseason. John Lynch has a lot of holes to fill all across the roster, and plans to make up for retirements and injuries.

But, there might not be a more pressing need than their pass-rusher spot. Nick Bosa is great, but after him, the 49ers don't have a good option for their defensive line.

That's where Maxx Crosby, the Las Vegas Raiders superstar pass rusher, comes in to play. And according to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, the 49ers are expected to have "serious intent" to trade for Crosby, making for an exciting rumor this offseason for the 49ers.

"I believe more than a dozen teams, possibly up to 20, will at least inquire with levels of serious intent," Fowler reports. "And there are some natural would-be contenders, including the Bills, Lions, 49ers, Cowboys, and Ravens."

The 49ers being linked to Crosby isn't a surprise, but this report from Fowler indicates that the 49ers are one of the top contenders to land Crosby if the Raiders trade the star pass rusher.

The 28-year-old pass rusher is a five-time Pro Bowler who's put up 69.5 sacks in his seven-year NFL career. He's been a second-team All-Pro twice, and while he's never been the best pass rusher in the NFL, he's always been one of the most disruptive in the league.

Crosby would be an incredible get for the 49ers if they could pull it off. It will cost a lot, akin to the Micah Parsons trade, which involved multiple first-rounders and a good player going to the Dallas Cowboys.

But the 49ers have the ammo to make such a blockbuster trade. And with some long-term uncertainty about the franchise, going all-in before Trent Williams, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, and others either depart or retire would be a smart move.

Pairing Crosby and Bosa together on the defensive line would make for the best pass-rushing duo in the NFL, and give the 49ers a massive defensive advantage for the foreseeable future.

The 49ers are rumored to be one of the top contenders for Crosby this offseason. While a trade won't be cheap, adding someone as good as Crosby would be worth the huge asking price.

This rumor from Fowler suggests 49ers fans should, at the very least, keep tabs on Crosby's trade market this offseason. San Francisco is a top landing spot for Crosby, as the superstar pass rusher could be on the move this offseason.
