The San Francisco 49ers have yet to re-sign wide receiver Jauan Jennings in NFL free agency, and it sounds like the team doesn't plan on bringing back the veteran.
Vic Tafur of The Athletic believes it's a no-brainer that Jennings won't return to San Francisco. Tafur adds that the 28-year-old's free agency market is very lackluster.
"Gotta start it off with an easy one. No. The money has been spent, and the position has been filled. Jennings made some big catches and some nasty blocks for the 49ers, and you gotta feel bad for him that his free-agent market was soft," Tafur said.
Though Jennings isn't an elite receiver, the Tennessee product was a reliable playmaker for the 49ers during his five-year tenure with the franchise. Jennings had a career-high nine touchdowns in 2025 and 975 yards on 77 receptions in 2024.
The New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, and Kansas City Chiefs have needs at wide receiver, and could target Jennings as a cheap, late free agenct signing.
New York did sign Darnell Mooney recently, but surrounding quarterback Jaxson Dart with as much talent as possible would be logical, especially with Malik Nabers coming off a torn ACL.
Jennings would be a solid fit in Matt Nagy's offense and would compete for the No. 2 receiver spot with Mooney and Darius Slayton.
Despite signing Jalen Nailor in free agency, Las Vegas could use more playmakers, and Jennings would be an ideal addition to help presumed No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza.
Kansas City's wide receiver is unproven. On the other hand, Jennings is an experienced player with proven production, so the Chiefs should sign him to bolster the receiving talent for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Jennings won't be back with the 49ers, and though he is still on the market, the former seventh-round pick should find a new home soon.
