The Washington Commanders are in a tough situation with Terry McLaurin, who is seeking a new contract. It's a scenario similar to what many players around the league are facing. McLaurin began expressing his frustrations in June, and yet, no deal has been reached.
“All-Pro WR Terry McLaurin has made it clear to the team that he’s frustrated with the lack of progress on a long-term deal. As I previously reported, McLaurin unexpectedly left voluntary workouts after initially attending, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll report for mandatory minicamp,” NFL Insider Jordan Schultz wrote.
Although McLaurin is no longer holding out of training camp, he was placed on the PUP list upon his return. He chose to report in order to avoid being fined for further absences.
“McLaurin became a hold-in and was placed on the physically unable to perform list with an apparent ankle injury suffered last season, though he participated in spring workouts. By reporting, McLaurin could no longer be fined $50,000 per day,” ESPN’s John Keim wrote.
McLaurin has also requested a trade. Because of this, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox believes the Commanders should consider acquiring Jauan Jennings as a replacement.
“Even with Deebo Samuel now in Washington, though, the Commanders could have interest in Jennings. General manager Adam Peters came from San Francisco's front office, and Washington may have a need after Terry McLaurin officially requested a trade,” Knox wrote.

“49ers WR Jauan Jennings, who is scheduled to make $7.5 million this season in the final year of his deal, wants a new contract or a trade, per sources. 49ers extended Jennings’ deal last year, but that does not change how Jennings feels about this year,” Schefter posted.
Jennings brings multiple valuable elements to his game. He’s a capable pass-catcher, an exceptional blocker, and takes pride in whatever role he’s asked to play. Jayden Daniels would likely welcome having a player like Jennings on his side.
