The Vancouver Canucks dropped a frustrating 2-0 shutout loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday night at Rogers Arena. The game marked J.T. Millier’s return to Vancouver for the first time since last season’s infamous trade.

Miller did not have an overwhelming game, but was on the right side of the score. Mika Zibanejad and Sam Carrick got the goal for the Rangers. Meanwhile, the Vancouver Canucks were blanked, wasting another brilliant performance from Thatcher Demko. The Vancouver netminder stopped 23 of 24 shots while keeping his team in the game all night long.

So, here’s a look at the three least impressive Vancouver Canucks players from their shutout loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.

#3 Brock Boeser

The Vancouver Canucks star forward had a quiet night. He hit the ice for over 18 minutes, but failed to get a shot on goal. He ended the game a minus-2 as he was on the ice for both Rangers goals.

Overall, Brock Boeser failed to generate many offensive opportunities in a game that was within reach down to the wire. The Canucks will need Boeser to heat up if they are to become serious playoff contenders this season.

#2 Evander Kane

Evander Kane was another Vancouver Canucks veteran forward who did not have an impressive night. Kane played for nearly 19 minutes on the night, but managed just one shot on goal. Most importantly, Kane, like Boeser, failed to deliver during the Canucks’ three power play chances.

Moving forward, Kane will need to show off the combination of toughness and skill that’s made him one of the best NHL forwards throughout his career.

#1 Tyler Myers

Tyler Myers and the Canucks hardly played a bad game. While the club failed to score, they did manage to keep it together for the entire night. But it was one crucial mistake that doomed Vancouver.

It came late in the first period, and it led to Zibanejad’s tally. Here’s a look:

Myers was handily beaten by Will Cuylle, who dished the puck to Zibanejad for the goal. Myers misplayed the situation by failing to either take out Cuylle or prevent the pass from happening. It’s worth pointing out that the goal wasn’t entirely on Myers, as the other Vancouver backcheckers did little to prevent the goal.

The replay showed the Canucks clearly had numbers coming back, but none of the four black sweaters did much to prevent the Rangers from getting the game’s first goal.

The Canucks will be back on the ice on Thursday night as they take on the St. Louis Blues at the Enterprise Center.
