The 2026 London Critics Circle Awards nominations were unveiled, noting a year characterized by gravitating towards bold and ambitious stories, films marked by strong directorial vision and quality acting across different genres. With nine nods, Paul Thomas Anderson’s vehement political drama One Battle After Another dominates the London Critics Circle Awards nominations for this year.
Just one step away is the adaptation of a literary work by Chloé Zhao, Hamnet, which grabbed nods in eight categories - including recognition for its performances and creative leadership. More details on the London Critics Circle Awards explored
The London Critics Circle Awards winners will be revealed on February 1, 2026 at a ceremony held at The May Fair Hotel, London. The event, which has been regularly hosted by film critic Mark Kermode in the last few years, will once again see him as the master of ceremonies.
Jane Crowther, chair of the film section, said the picks show a strong inclination towards original works and human-focused stories in a time when there is more and more talk about automation and creative uniformity.
According to Crowther, the movies recognized by the London Critics Circle Awards display a very strong focus on distinct voices, real lives, and artistic daring.
The ceremony will be the perfect prelude to the ceremony, giving a very clear snapshot of the films and performances that the critics most appreciated in the cinematic year.
