2025 NFL Draft: Colts select CB Justin Walley with No. 80 pick

3 hours ago 1

The Indianapolis Colts continued their offseason theme of bolstering the secondary.

After staying put at No. 45 overall in the second round, taking Ohio State edge rusher JT Tuimoloau, Colts again added to the defensive side of the ball, grabbing Minnesota cornerback Justin Walley with the No. 80 overall pick.

Walley, a four-year starter at Minnesota, measured in a 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds with 30 3/4-inch arms. He posted a 4.40 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine.

Walley is known to be a defender with strong ball skills after he recorded 34 passes defensed and seven interceptions across 49 games (42 starts) at Minnesota.

A Second-Team All-Big Ten selection in 2024, Walley joins a cornerback room that includes Charvarius Ward, JuJu Brents and Jaylon Jones on the outside.

Here's what The Athletic's Dane Brugler said about Walley in his scouting report:

"Overall, Walley doesn't stand out with top-tier size or special traits, but he is competitive with a natural feel for coverage that coaches will want on their teams. He can hold up on the outside, although proving himself in the slot would boost his chances of carving out a long-term NFL role."

It will be interesting to see how the Colts view Walley coming into the league, but Indy continues to add depth to the secondary.
