2025 Money in the Bank Results: Instant Match Grade and Fall out as Naomi snags briefcase

3 hours ago 1

The Women's Ladder Match was first up for the WWE Money in the Bank PLE on Saturday, setting things off for the summer. The field was a mixture of women's division staples Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss and Naomi, along with three up-and-coming stars who have recently migrated to the main show. Roxanne Perez, Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer have all recently graduated from NXT and brought with them a wealth of potential but not a lot of experience.

Ripley herself was entering her first ladder match, but her championship pedigree is undeniable as one of the best and most popular champions in recent history. Bliss, a five-time champion had won MitB before, and this marked Naomi's fifth career MitB match; tying the all-time record for appearances.

In the end it was Naomi who emerged victorious, knocking Bliss and Ripley off the ladder and climbing to the top to retrieve the briefcase.

Match Grade: B-

The inexperience showed in this match. Unlike 2024, when the women's match was by far the highlight of the event, this one left a little something to be desired. Several times competitors who were climbing the ladder were gently allowed to climb down instead of being ripped off by their opponents. There were no tables involved, and the coordinated power moves (dual Code Reds, simultaneous Riptide and Sister Abigails) didn't sync up as nicely as anyone would've hoped.

There were several awkward moments with the ladders, like when Perez and Giulia tried to lock Ripley in the ladder, but forgot to unlock it and it wouldn't close.

There were still great moments in the 26-minute match and it was great to see Naomi emerge as she looks to regain championship gold.

What's next for Naomi?

Naomi can immediately be pointed at the current champion, Stratton, who she has feuded with over the past year. When Stratton was a Nia Jax minion, her ad Naomi often tussled as Naomi tried to get her Women's World Title.

Naomi also has one of the best storylines going on SmackDown, her stalker vibe beef with Bianca Belair that stems from her turning heel by attacking Jade Cargill back in November that led to the latter's absence for months. These five wrestlers, along with Charlotte Flair, are intertwined with each other which means the cashing in of the contract doesn't have to be immediate and has a background story regardless of which one has the title at the time of the cash in.

It can also happen at any moment, including after any title change.

In the eight previous years of Money in the Bank, the women's contract winner has a 100% conversion rate.

Not only can that fuel the blue brand's women's division for months, but both Bliss, who should be aligned with the Wyatt 6 sometime over the next few months, and Giulia are on Friday night's, setting up future beefs if and when Naomi takes the belt.
