Zuby Ejiofor out to add missing piece to career that will be honored among St. John’s legends

He is the Pride of the St. John’s Red Storm, and he learned on Selection Sunday from Rick Pitino that he will be honored with the school’s legends in a Ring of Honor ceremony next season.

“I was pretty stunned,” Zuby Ejiofor said. “He was talking about guys like Walter Berry and Chris Mullin, and the list goes on and on. I was never really expecting my name to be called, honestly. But it’s a truly special moment. I’m really just entirely grateful for that recognition. I’m gonna be telling my family pretty soon.”

Ejiofor is a self-made star — with immense help from Pitino — who transferred two years ago from Kansas.

“I’m well aware of that,” he said and laughed.
