Zhang Weili is on a quest to become a two-division UFC champion. The Chinese star already has history on her side, being the country’s first UFC champion, but she wants more.
Weili faces Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC women’s flyweight title this weekend. The legendary Madison Square Garden plays host to the event, and the former strawweight champion is all geared up for it.
During the UFC 322 press conference, Weili addressed her cheering fans before being asked if she agreed whether her fight on Saturday would determine the "greatest female fighter of all time." Weili replied:
“Yeah, I think so."Get the latest updates on One Championship Rankings at Sportskeeda and more

The bout pits the No.1 and No.2 pound-for-pound women’s UFC fighters in a battle for supremacy.
While Weili tries to become another UFC two-division champion, Shevchenko will be keen on keeping her crown and staying dominant in the flyweight division. The only blips in her flyweight reign have been the loss and draw against Alexa Grasso.
However, Shevchenko beat Grasso at UFC 306 to reclaim her crown. She then beat Manon Fiorot at UFC 315.
Valentina Shevchenko keeping options open for another mega fight
While there is a lot of interest in the fight between Zhang Weili and Valentina Shevchenko, there is another clash that could usurp the UFC 322 bout.
Amanda Nunes, considered by many as the greatest female fighter of all time, seems set to come out of retirement.
The Brazilian is a former two-division UFC champion and has a 2-0 record over Shevchenko. ‘Bullet’ recently spoke to Mike Bohn for MMA Junkie about a potential third fight against Nunes and didn’t rule it out.
“For a long time, it was the only reason why I would return to the 135, it was just one name. Finish business with what I had with Amanda. Once she was retired, I lost interest in that, and now, let’s see. The rumors that she’s unretired but let’s see if it’s a reality.”There are very strong rumors that Nunes’ return fight would be against UFC women’s bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison.
