Young Man City superstar signs for Championship club

The ongoing season has been filled with limited ups and terrible downs for Manchester City.

Man City's dropped ranks in the Premier League table led to their dreams of claiming the title being crushed. They were also eliminated from the Champions League and the EFL Cup, leaving the FA Cup as their hope of salvaging the season.

Man City are also aiming for a top-five finish in the domestic league to ensure a Champions League qualification for the next season. With their injury woes, disappointing displays, and disheartening eliminations this term, several changes are anticipated at Etihad for a stronger run in the upcoming campaign.

And now, it appears Man City have made their first deal of the summer. The club's academy graduate, Jacob Wright, who was loaned to Norwich City in February for the remainder of the ongoing season, has joined the Championship side on a permanent deal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Jacob Wright wanted to make the move to Norwich City from Manchester City

Since starting his senior career at Etihad in 2023, Wright has been trying to book a regular spot in Man City's A team. Despite being unable to move up in Pep Guardiola's pecking order while receiving interest from other clubs, the 19-year-old initially decided to continue at the club.

Back in October last year, Wright explained his initial decision and told Manchester Evening News,

"There was obviously temptation - there always is going to be - but when the manager and staff around him want you to stay and be around that first team there's not much of a choice," said the Englishman.

However, Wright appeared to have a change of heart following his loan to Norwich City. Last month, he told Pink Un that he would like to continue with the Championship side even after the completion of his loan tenure.

"Yes, 100 per cent. I'm really starting to build something nice at the club. I'm enjoying it. It's a good family club. I'm really enjoying the way they play. Hopefully, we can get some better results next season if I am to stay. I'd definitely like to stay, hopefully," he said.

Wright's loan deal included an option to buy with a clause that the player would have to start in nine games for Norwich City. He has started in 10 out of the 15 appearances he has made in the Championship so far.

And now, the young talent's wish seems to have been granted as Norwich have signed him on a permanent deal for a transfer fee of £2.3 million.

It remains to be seen if the Man City graduate will play a crucial role in helping Norwich City get promoted to the Premier League next season.
