You won’t believe how many women’s college basketball stars hit the transfer portal

The transfer portal is on fire this year — and the numbers are staggering.

Over 1,500 women’s college basketball players have entered the transfer portal so far this offseason, and it’s still not over. Players have until the end of April 23, 2025, to notify their school’s compliance office of their intent to transfer. After that, compliance has up to 48 hours to officially enter their name into the portal, meaning more players are still being added as of now.

This year’s portal isn’t just large — it’s packed with star talent. Here are some of the biggest names shaking up the women’s college basketball landscape:

MiLaysia Fulwiley (South Carolina → Uncommitted)

This one sent shockwaves through the sport. MiLaysia Fulwiley’s departure from Dawn Staley’s powerhouse program came despite her playing a key role over the past two seasons. The 5’10” guard averaged 11.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game over her freshman and sophomore years, all while playing just under 19 minutes per game.

She has not yet committed to a new school, but speculated destinations include Notre Dame, LSU, Louisville, Clemson and Ole Miss.

Londynn Jones (UCLA → USC)

Londynn Jones is flipping L.A. schools — and reigniting a rivalry in the process.

The 5’4” guard averaged 9.6 points, 1.5 assists and 1.4 rebounds over three seasons at UCLA and led the Bruins with 72 three-pointers this season. Now she’s headed to crosstown rival USC, where she’ll help fill a key backcourt gap left by injuries and outgoing transfers.

Ta’Niya Latson (Florida State → South Carolina)

The nation’s leading scorer is heading to Columbia.

Ta’Niya Latson, a 5’8” guard, averaged 25.2 points, 4.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game last season at Florida State. Her move to South Carolina reunites her with former high school teammate Raven Johnson and further strengthens Dawn Staley’s roster.

This is one of the most significant pickups of the offseason.

Madina Okot (Mississippi State → South Carolina)

South Carolina landed another big piece — literally.

Madina Okot, a 6’6” center, brings size and presence to the Gamecocks’ frontcourt. She averaged 11.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks for Mississippi State last season.

Okot is expected to have an immediate impact in the paint for a team already loaded with talent.

This list barely scratches the surface. With over 1,500 names already in the portal — and more being added — the college basketball landscape is set for major changes. Expect a completely different look when teams take the court next season.
