Ballet dancer Misty Copeland made quite the statement at the 2026 Oscars, wearing a 27-carat emerald-cut diamond ring, valued at $1.8 million, as well as a pair of $15,000 diamond drop earrings.

Misty Copeland is raising the bar(re) when it comes to Oscars style.

Indeed, the professional ballet dancer wowed on the Oscars 2026 red carpet in Los Angeles on March 15, wearing a custom David Koma gown and nearly $2 million worth of diamond accessories.

While her black and white gown with a built-in tutu was giving ballet chic, it was the 27-carat emerald-cut diamond ring on her hand that really stole the show. In fact, the ring—known as the Jared Mpho Diamond—is valued at $1.8 million.

The 43-year-old—who is expected to appear in a Sinners tribute at the 98th Academy Awards—completed her look with a pair of Jared Atelier diamond drop earrings, worth $15,000. (For every star on the Oscars 2026 red carpet, see here.)

Misty’s appearance at the Oscars is certainly timely, as it comes just weeks after Timothée Chalamet—a nominee this evening for his role in Marty Supreme—made waves by alleging that “no one cares” about ballet and opera.

Misty—who is the first black woman to be principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre— has since weighed in on the controversy, saying she was surprised to hear Timothée’s hot take, especially since she was featured in Marty Supreme’s campaign on Instagram last November.

“It’s very interesting that he invited me to be a part of promoting Marty Supreme with respect to my art form,” she said during a March 10 panel for Aveeno in New York City. “I think it’s important that we acknowledge that, yes, this is an art form that’s not ‘popular’ and a part of pop culture as movies are. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have enduring relevance in culture.”

“There’s a reason that opera and ballet have been around for over 400 years,” she continued. “I think when you have access and opportunity to be a part of something, that can change your life. The work I’ve been doing my whole career is to bring more people into it, so that people do understand the importance and relevance of it in our communities and our culture.”

The dancer added, “He wouldn’t be an actor and have the opportunities he has as a movie star if it weren’t for opera and ballet and their relevance. All of these mediums have a space and we shouldn’t be comparing them.”

Misty’s look isn’t the only showstopper on the Oscars 2026 red carpet. Keep reading for more…
