Yasiel Puig makes high-powered debut with Toronto Maple Leafs

Yasiel Puig made his debut for the baseball-playing Toronto Maple Leafs this weekend.

And he made an immediate mark, blasting a couple of long home runs.

Puig recently signed with the lesser-known Leafs, who play in the Canadian Baseball League.

Puig is 35 years old now, and he's also facing a court hearing on May 26 for obstruction of justice and making false statements to federal agents in regards to an illegal sports gambling organization.

The CBL season started on Sunday, though, and Puig was on the field.

He launched two homers in a league that seems quite a bit below his current talent level.

The former Los Angeles Dodgers star spent the last few seasons playing in Mexico and in Korea.

His last MLB action was in 2019 for Cincinnati and Cleveland.

Puig made one All Star team with the Dodgers.  He finished his MLB career with a .277 batting average, 132 home runs and 79 stolen bases.

Puig won't be making it back to MLB, but he's still playing baseball -- and at least against a lower level of competition, he clearly still can make good things happen on the diamond.
