The New York Yankees have two looks.

At home, they wear the white uniforms with navy pinstripes. On the road, they've got gray jerseys.

That's it.

But if the latest reporting plays itself out, the Yankees could add an alternate jersey to the mix.

"Yankees players recently pitched higher-ups on the idea of wearing alternate road jerseys for the first time in franchise history," wrote Brendan Kuty of The Athletic.

The idea would be to wear navy tops as part of their road ensemble occasionally, still with gray pants. It's essentially the look they have in Spring Training.

It's not an idea that everyone is a fan of.

"I am probably in the minority and maybe this is just another thing geared to the younger crowd, but this is the latest example of the Yankees becoming just another team," The Athletic's Chris Kirschner wrote on X. "To me, it started when they moved into this current stadium and has slowly deteriorated since. It doesn’t have that special feeling like the old stadium. It can’t be more corporate if it tried."

Most teams not just in MLB but across professional sports have at least a third jersey arrangement, and some have many more.

The Yankees are a team steeped in position, and they've never messed with the two uniform looks.

It'd be a big change, but it sounds like it's one that might be on its way.
