Yankees vs. Twins prediction: MLB odds, picks, best bet Monday

The Yankees have reached the business end of the regular season, with the finale less than two weeks away.

Will Warren starts on the mound in Minneapolis as the Pinstripes kick off a six-game road trip, concluding in Arizona against the Diamondbacks.

The Twins will field Bailey Ober, who has a 5-1 record and a 3.16 ERA at Target Field this season. 

Entering Monday’s game, the Twins lead the series 2-1, securing two wins in the Bronx in early July.

Aside from Cam Schlittler’s impressive Cy Young campaign, Warren has quietly established himself as a key member of the Yankees staff as well, boasting a solid 10-6 record and a 4.05 ERA this season.

With October approaching, Warren could secure a spot in the Yankees’ playoff rotation based on his recent pitching performances.

Monday’s game presents another perfect opportunity for him to showcase his sharp four-seam fastball, which makes up 36.2 percent of his pitching repertoire, according to StatCast.

Last August, Warren allowed two earned runs over 6.2 innings, giving up only three hits while striking out seven batters against the Twins.

While Minnesota has managed to secure a couple of hard-fought wins against the Yankees, it is worth noting that Aaron Judge, George Lombard Jr., and Luis Garcia Jr. were not in the lineup during those games.

I expect Warren to keep the Twins’ bats in check, while a much stronger lineup of hitters will test Ober on the mound.

The 6-foot-9 Ober relies heavily on his changeup and has not registered a win since Aug. 17. 

With the AL East-leading Rays coming to town near the end of the month, the Yankees will benefit from any win they can achieve before that important four-game series.
