Yankees urged to make questionable Giancarlo Stanton replacement decision

It remains uncertain when Giancarlo Stanton will return to the New York Yankees lineup. The Yankees have swung the bats at a high level over the first few games of the season, hitting home runs and scoring runs at a promising rate.

However, it's all but guaranteed that at some point, New York will miss its slugger and former MVP.

If Stanton isn't planning to return anytime soon, despite some of his comments about making progress on his elbow injuries, New York may look to add to its lineup in a different way.

Even if the Yankees believe Stanton will return sometime soon, adding another bat might not be a bad idea.

There are a few ways the Yankees could go, and Jake Elman of Athlon Sports believes there's one player they should target.

He suggested the Yankees look at Tyler Wade, who was in the Yankees' lineup from 2017 to 2021.

"Across the country, the San Diego Padres outrighted Wade to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday. The Padres designated Wade for assignment last Thursday after he hit just .209 over 49 spring plate appearances.

"If the Padres have no use for Wade, the Yankees should absolutely look into bringing him back to the Bronx," Elman wrote.

Wade wouldn't be the ideal Stanton replacement given his lack of power, but if the Yankees are looking for a major league bat with experience at the highest level, he could be an intriguing option.

30 years old and spending parts of eight seasons in the show, his 62 OPS+ leaves much to be desired.

If the Yankees want to win, finding a better hitter would be the ideal plan.
