Yankees trade for Nationals’ Luis Garcia Jr. to bolster offense at deadline

Days after The Post’s Joel Sherman reported that the Yankees were kicking the tires on a trade with the Nationals for first baseman Luis García Jr., the deal is done.

The Yankees agreed to a trade that will bring García to The Bronx before Monday’s trade deadline.

The move comes as the Yanks look to upgrade their offense heading into the stretch run of the baseball season and as the Bombers sit in the top wild-card spot in the American League, and three games back of the Rays in the AL East.

Garcia comes to the Yankees with a career-best .283 batting average with 23 home runs and 76 RBIs in 104 games this season with the Nats. He also has a .560 slugging percentage this season.
