In comparison to their American League East rivals, the New York Yankees had a pretty slow offseason.
Although they re-signed Cody Bellinger and made a trade for Ryan Weathers, their division rivals did much more to improve.
The Toronto Blue Jays made a plethora of signings, including Dylan Cease and Kazuma Okamoto.
The Boston Red Sox made trades for both Sonny Gray and Willson Contreras in addition to signing Ranger Suarez.
Also, the Baltimore Orioles made significant moves, adding Pete Alonso, Ryan Helsley and more.
With that in mind, the Yankees may still be evaluating ways to improve their roster despite Spring Training having already begun.
According to Joel Sherman of The New York Post, the Yankees are open to adding a right-handed hitting catcher or outfielder.
Previously, New York has been linked to former Cardinals and Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk.
Starling Marte and Tommy Pham could be other right-handed hitting platoon options in the outfield, albeit each of them are nearing the end of their careers.
Manuel Margot and Hunter Renfroe are other slightly younger options.
As far as catcher is concerned, veterans Christian Vazquez and Elias Diaz are two of the top names available at the position, both of which hit from the right side.
That said, other players currently signed could reach free agency if they do not break camp, giving the Yankees with more options to choose from.
If no moves are made, it would appear as though Amed Rosario and Paul Goldschmidt will be relied upon in timely moments as right-handed pinch-hitters.
