Ryan Weathers registered another quality start as the New York Yankees swept the Kansas City Royals at home.
The Yankees have been scoring runs at will in this series, and for a change, their pitching has also done well on all fronts. Leading the way in Sunday's series finale, Weathers threw 7.1 scoreless innings, punching out seven while only giving up five hits and one walk.

In the shutdown 7-0 win at Yankee Stadium, Ben Rice, Aaron Judge and Trent Grisham all swung for the fences. Grisham led the team with three RBIs and the Yankees captain had two in the series finale.
With a break to follow on Monday, the Yankees will travel to Boston for the three-game series against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. They will then travel to Houston and then Texas before returning home fr the series against the Baltimore Orioles. The challenging road series ahead will keep the Yankees on their toes.

Ryan Weathers' starting spot in jeopardy?
Coming into this game, Ryan Weathers was holding a 4.29 ERA. His season so far has been mixed. At times, he has looked elite, but when he becomes predictable, he gives up hits in a flurry. The loss against the Los Angeles Angels, where he gave up four home runs for five earned runs in five innings, was the perfect example of it. But then, he also pitched eight innings for just one run against the Texas Rangers.
The inconsistency is real and that's why his spot in the rotation is in jeopardy once with Carlos Rodon and Gerrit Cole return soon. The toss could be between Luis Gil and Weathers and while the latter has done relatively well, the Yankees might still consider pitching Weathers out of the bullpen.
Max Fried, Cam Schlittler and Will Warren seem like locks at the moment. However, if Weathers can give consistency on the mound, Aaron Boone's hand will be forced.
