The New York Yankees are primed for a huge trade deadline.
As the defending American League champions (and World Series losers), the Yankees are under a heap of expectations. They've got as much high-end roster talent as anybody, but they've now got two obvious holes.
The first is third base, which has been an issue to some degree all season. But starting pitching is a newer one, brought on by Clarke Schmidt's season-ending UCL tear a week ago.
One baseball content creator sees the Yankees solving both needs in one fell swoop.
In a recent YouTube video, Jim Riley of BALLCAP Sports predicted that the Yankees would acquire Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez and starting pitcher Zac Gallen ahead of the Jul. 31 deadline.
"What that could mean for the Diamondbacks, you're going to get a more premium return. So I can see the Yankees, in one phone call, grabbing Geno and grabbing Gallen, and grabbing the two top list items that they need--third base and starting pitching," Riley said.

"One phone call. So give me a big one for the Yankees here with Suárez and Gallen."
Suárez has been fantastic his season, making his second All-Star team and leading all third basemen with 31 home runs. Gallen, meanwhile, has struggled on the whole (5.40 ERA), but showed signs of snapping out of his funk with recent back-to-back gems.
The question at this point is whether the 47-50 D-backs will wave the white flag. Each passing day seems to increase that likelihood, so don't be stunned if the Yankees pull this off.
