Paul Goldschmidt's MLB career may be winding down.
Before he gets to the end of the road, though, he's seized at least one New York Yankees record for himself.
He's now the oldest player in franchise history to slug a leadoff home run.

While that account doesn't specify the previous record holder, it seems likely that it was Derek Jeter.
Goldschmidt isn't a conventional leadoff hitter. But when the Yanks face a left-handed starting pitcher, the righty Goldy often gets the nod to hit first.

It always feels like a bit extra special of a feat for someone to set a Yankees franchise record. There have been so many legendary hitters to pass through this organization.
Goldschmidt hasn't played his prime in pinstripes, but he was one of the best players in his era, and this is a part of his closing chapter.
