Yankees’ Max Fried is the best pitcher in MLB

The New York Yankees are already reaping the rewards of their $215 million offseason investment.

Max Fried came to the Bronx on an eight-year deal worth that much, and he's been the best pitcher in MLB so far this season.

On Wednesday night, Fried allowed just one run (a Jackson Merrill solo homer) in seven sharp innings. The Yankees didn't score early but scored enough late to win.

Fried managed to raise his season ERA in the process, up to 1.05.

So far, Fried and Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers have been baseball's two supreme aces.

Yamamoto slightly leads Fried in ERA (0.90 to 1.05) but Fried leads in WHIP (0.91 to 0.93).

Fried has already given the Yankees 11.2 additional innings of value, though, and has found a way to go 6-0 compared to Yamamoto already taking two tough-luck losses.

Whichever way you slot them is fine, but they've been the two best for sure.

Yankees fans won't care too much about the exact comparison.

All they know is Fried has been brilliant since joining from the Braves.

Fried was a star pretty much from the outset in Atlanta, possessing a Kershaw-like curveball and a precise, darting fastball.

It's looked even better in pinstripes than it already did in an All-Star career with the Braves.

Fried is trending toward starting this year's All-Star Game, and he's been everything the Yankees could've ever asked for and more.
