Yankees’ Jazz Chisholm sends heartfelt message to Anthony Volpe amid questions of Volpe playing second base

1 hour ago 2

There have been some questions about whether the New York Yankees could bench Jazz Chisholm in favor of Anthony Volpe when a left-hander is on the mound.

Doing so would be one of the more questionable things the Yankees have done in quite some time, but I don't really think we can put anything past them at the moment.

Unfortunately, the Yankees have continued to prove they believe in the analytical side of things, and a favorable matchup is something they're always looking for.

With the media talking about it, there's no doubt players are at least hearing about it, or perhaps it's even been considered and discussed with Volpe and Chisholm.

Regardless of whether that's the case or not, Chisholm still has a lot of love for the 25-year-old Yankees shortstop who hasn't done what anybody expected him to do.

Volpe had his best game of the season on Monday in the win against the Kansas City Royals, collecting two RBIs and a run with a massive hit late in the game.

“You know the love I got for Volpe… I’m super happy and excited for him. Especially in that moment where we needed it the most… He’s a pretty confident kid and he handles things with a lot of professionalism… He’s just an all-around great player. He can take you deep, he can go get the hit like today, he can play great defense… He’s going out there and grinding, he doesn’t let anything stop him… You’ve seen him last year, he played through a whole injury for a whole season… That’s tough,” Chisholm said, per YES Network.

While Volpe hasn't been the guy the Yankees have been looking for, it's also important to recognize how difficult his job is.

Being the Yankees' shortstop, at any age, but especially at 25 years old, is no easy task.

He wants to be playing better, too, so I think some fans need to realize that and try not to get on him as much as they do.
