The best story in baseball added its latest chapter on Sunday night.
That's when Yankees catcher J.C. Escarra turned on a pitch and launched it deep into the right-field night at Yankee Stadium for his first MLB home run.
Escarra's journey to the majors isn't the typical one.
The 30-year old was released by Baltimore in 2022, then spent the entire 2023 season out of affiliated baseball.
He spent his time away driving Ubers to make ends meet.
He latched on with the Yankees in 2024 and played at both Double-A and Triple-A.
New York kept him on the Opening Day roster this year, and he made his first MLB start on April 3.
Escarra took an Uber to Yankee Stadium on Opening Day in a full-circle moment.
He's also about to become a father for the first time.

It's all been a brilliantly special journey for Escarra.
So on Sunday night, when he dropped his bat and watched the ball fly into the most famous right-field seats in sports, Escarra just stood at home plate for a second.
His entire journey was there, contained in that white orb, soaring through the Bronx sky.
In that moment, there was no cooler sight in sports.
