With Carlos Rodon returning from the injured list in the near future, the New York Yankees will have a roster crunch in the starting rotation.
Currently, New York's rotation consists of Cam Schlittler, Gerrit Cole, Max Fried, Will Warren, and Ryan Weathers.
The Yankees are unlikely to move Rodon to the bullpen. The top two candidates are Warren and Weathers.
Based on their recent outings, manager Aaron Boone should be strongly considering keeping Weathers in the rotation.

Weathers has cut down on his fastball, and the results are positive. He has allowed just three runs in his last five starts.
"I've been a primary four-seamer pitcher for my whole career," Weathers told The Athletic's Chris Kirschner. "I wouldn't say pride, but it was just like, I'm tired of getting beat with the long ball. "I have four other pitches that aren't really getting hit into the seats."

Weathers used his fastball 45.3% of the time in 2025. He's cut that number to 23.9% this season.
Utilizing different pitches could be key to Weathers' success.
He has already thrown a career-high 134 innings, but the Yankees would be wise to keep him in the rotation.
