Yankees fans must've had the briefest of nightmares when the YES Network broadcast zoomed in on the right shin of Angels pitcher Tyler Anderson.
There, beneath Anderson's red sock, it was clear he had bled and had soaked his sock with blood.
It's not the first time.

The Yankees once encountered a bloody sock in a much bigger moment.
In Game 6 of the 2004 ALCS, with the Red Sox trying to overcome a historic deficit, Curt Schilling took the mound for Boston.
And thanks to a temporary ankle tendon procedure that Schilling needed, his lower leg bled during the game. It created a bloody pant leg and sock, which was captured on the broadcast.
Despite that, Schilling pitched a gem and the Red Sox went on to win Game 7 and eventually end their World Series drought.

A bloody sock for Anderson in the middle of the regular season for a subpar Angels team probably doesn't have as much impact on the Yankees.
But as the social media poster above wrote, it can't be a great omen. It just can't.
